how i work

The algorithm never sleeps. But people need to.

A working relationship that works for everyone.

The paid ads industry is always on (for better or worse). One of my core operating principles is to model business practices that leave room for real life.

Response times & availability

The pace of all digitally-enabled work can be relentless, which is a recipe for disrupting our ability to sleep enough, eat right, exercise, and spend time with the people who matter most. You know, things outside of work that make our lives feel rich and rewarding.

Expect open, async lines of communication when we work together via email or a dedicated Slack channel. “Business as usual” availability means a 1-2 business day response time for general correspondence and faster turnaround time for urgent account matters.

Billing:

As a one-person company, my time is better spent managing ads than A/R.

I ask all of my clients to enroll in ACH for invoicing. I bill at the first of the month, and payments are drafted on the last day of the month.

Clients receive three reminders throughout the month – no surprises here! And auto-pay and manual approvals are both options.

Frequently asked questions

  • • Brands running Shopify stores
    • Selling their own product (not a marketplace)
    • $3M+ in annual sales and/or growing quickly
    • My typical clients usually have 30k+ IG followers

  • In short: no. But let me know what your current plan looks like, and we’ll calculate something that makes sense for your shop and your goals.

  • As a company of one, I have limited capacity. I’m not growing an agency – I'm just super-serving a select roster of businesses. As such, I carve out capacity for those with whom I have a signed agreement, first-come, first-served.

  • I operate through a traditional retainer model, with fees determined by the size and complexity of the work. When we work together, we agree on a scope of work for each month at a predictable rate. No surprise invoices or unpredictable costs! Plus, as an independent consultant, my overhead is virtually nonexistent, which means reasonable rates for you.

  • Paid media engagements last 12 months. For first-time customers, I offer a 6-month engagement to assess the partnership. Customers can end a partnership at any time by paying a small fee.

  • After establishing administrative access to your accounts, I complete a thorough onboarding checklist to ensure that all settings and features are properly set for long-term success. This ensures that our performance isn't hindered by any minor setting snafu or broken data connections.

For clients who are getting started with pay-per-click advertising, I’ll recommend a keyword research project to outline the full opportunity available on Google Ads and other major platforms. From there, we can collaboratively prioritize our focus to make the most of the ad spend budget.

If you are already running advertising, I can pick up where the previous team left off. Contact me to discuss the unique details of your situation.

  • There isn't a channel I feel uncomfortable managing. Most of my clients have a paid ad foundation with Meta and Google, and are actively expanding to other channels including Amazon, TikTok, Reddit, Snap, Hulu TV, and Pinterest.

  • I communicate timely and clearly, with a preference for asynchronous communication. In addition to our monthly reporting calls, we communicate regularly through email and often share a Slack channel, too. While I won’t be in your office, it should feel like I’m just down the hall.

I respond to quick emails quickly. However, it is normal for me to take 1-2 days to reply to emails that require thought and analysis. In my humble opinion, our culture of immediacy and the constant fragmentation of time are not conducive to good work (or to the kind of life I strive to lead).

  • When reconciling the tension between testing and assuming, I always err on the side of testing: When unsure, let the data speak for itself. The goal is to achieve a statistically significant result so we can move forward with confidence.

  • I did not become a free agent by accident – this is my chosen profession. I absolutely love my work, and I’m not secretly looking for a full-time gig. With a fractional growth lead, you get access to decades of experience, calibrated for your goals, exactly when you need it.

Most of my client partnerships are long-term, and the value of that type of relationship compounds with every Q4.

  • I’m hands-on with the accounts I manage every single day. You can also expect frequent communication in Slack or via email, as well as monthly dedicated reporting calls (bi-weekly where needed, like in busy seasons, transitions, etc).

  • I’ve got you covered. We can pair my Performance Creative Director offering with my deep network of creative pros who know how to deliver best-in-class assets.
